Similar to the Olympians training for Rio 2016, New Yorkers deal with pressure to constantly perform at a God-like level on a daily basis. While we try our hardest, going for gold every day is overwhelming. At times, the anxiety that results from this can cloud our confidence and lead us to underperforming. Taking a few notes from athletes, specialists, and our colleagues, we’ve put together a game plan to help you reach peak performance level every day, all day.
Set goals, goals, goals!
Stop psyching yourself out and plan accordingly! Setting small goals for yourself will help with stress management and balancing the amount of energy and time you spend on each task. This will encourage you to put 100% into every aspect of your endeavor. Little by little, your self-confidence will rise and you’ll be unstoppable. You can now put down that third cup of coffee.
Prepare for the unexpected.
Now that you’ve set your goals and are on track to achieving them, prepare yourself for unexpected work or problems that may arise. The unknown is lurking around every corner, especially in a place like New York City. But don’t let that discourage you from achieving your goals! It’s easy to allow your unconscious to manage your actions. Instead, let the unknown keep you you alert and on your toes. This will help you to avoid being frazzled and, instead, ready to find a solution to the issue at hand.
Just do it.
Let’s be honest— in New York City, your only option is to be the best. Every action you take will be influential in reaching your daily goals. Once you sit down to plan out your day and mentally prepare yourself for any obstacles or road blocks, you then need to dive right in. Whether the task is big or small, do not hold back and just give it your all.
