Pantone LLC is “the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries. The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer,” states Pantone.
As the world’s leading color trend experts for the past 15 years, their yearly color predictions have come to be the final say in the hue that will reign above all in the design world in that particular year. Pantone’s 2014 color of the year, Radiant Orchid, was wildly popular, incorporated into designs from the runaway to mobile shops such as Le Suite Boutique.
Pantone recently announced its 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala.
Why Marsala? Marsala is “an earthy shade with a bit of sophistication that is equally appealing to men and women…the impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color,” states Pantone.
Marsala has quickly sent many designers into a frenzy, as they feel it isn’t as bold of a choice as past years’ colors. Yet, many love this warm and rich color choice, especially the Creative Services team here at VPM, because, very fittingly, our Art Director, Linda Marsala, shares the same name. We’ve rounded up a list of a few others who join us in our excitement by incorporating Marsala into various products:
• Here’s a sneak peek of Sephora and Pantone’s collaborative efforts in creating new palettes and beauty products in Marsala, #TheNewNatural
• How to “Live with Marsala,” — embracing the color in everyday items.
