In the midst of leaves changing colors and Pumpkin Spice latte overloads, is an abundance of the color pink. Breast Cancer Awareness month is in full swing in NYC. With two more weeks to go, there are still plenty of events to check out in the city. Here are a few ways to help the 15,000 New Yorkers diagnosed with breast cancer each year fight for a cure and spread awareness.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth…

Jamba Juice and Magnolia Bakery have whipped up some delicious, pink treats this month. In partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Jamba Juice is celebrating October with their Pink Whirl month. Head over to one of Jamba Juice’s many locations in NYC to make a donation by means of one of their delicious new smoothies.

Magnolia Bakery is thinking pink with their annual Pink Ribbon cupcake— but if you’ve got a serious craving for a Red Velvet cupcake or one of their scrumptious chocolate brownies, you’ll still have an opportunity to help by making a donation with any purchase for Breast Treatment Task Force.

If you’re feeling active…

Grab your yoga mat for some zen time at Moving for Life’s Gentle Yoga Moves. This free event on Wednesday, October 22 in Midtown is an hour long yoga class, followed by light refreshments. All you need to do to attend is to rsvp at info@komennyc.com. The class is open to all women, but is specifically designed for breast cancer survivors to easily participate.

If you want something more upbeat and challenging, sign up for Avon’s Walk for Breast Cancer, taking place October 18-19. This overnight event begins at sunrise on the 18 and ends at 2pm on the 19. The walking route will take you in a loop from Pier 84 to Randall’s Island and back again. It’s designed to walk you through some of the most well-known areas in Manhattan, passing by the most iconic sites in the city. Randall’s Island will host “Wellness Village,” where you will camp out for the night before making your way back to Pier 84. Register and find out more information at Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: NEW YORK.

If you need a night out on the town…

On Saturday, October 18, NY Water Taxi/Circle Line Downtown is teaming up with Susan G. Komen for a night long Pink Party on the luxury yacht Zephyr. With everything from an open bar to psychic readings, this is a no brainer event to attend if you’re looking for a night out in NYC this month. Get your friends together, wear something pink, and dance the night away on the Hudson. Check out more information and ticket pricing at Komen NYC.

On Wednesday, October 29, The Wren will be hosting New York Barrelhead Art’s Paint & Sip Girls’ Night Out.  100% of your $25 admission fee will be donated to Komen Greater NYC. It will provide you with Herredura cocktails, light bites, and step-by-step instructions on how to create an original piece of art by utilizing a tequila barrelhead as your canvas.
