Smart, enthusiastic, and one of the most serious television critics we’ve come across, VPM Marketing & PR intern, Bethany Whiteman, sat down with us to share her experience working at VPM just before heading off to graduate from Montclair State University.
VPM: Describe yourself to us like you would in your Twitter bio.
BW: Amateur baker, TV and film critic, unorganized Virgo, wine and food enthusiast, makeup junkie.
VPM: Why did you choose to intern at VPM?
BW: I chose to intern at VPM because I liked that it was very hands on and that there is so much opportunity to grow and learn. If I ever have a question about something or need advice there is always someone to go to!
VPM: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while working here?
BW: I’ve learned that it’s okay to voice your opinion and take risks. I tend to be shy when it comes to voicing my opinion, but everyone at VPM wants to listen and consider my input, which made it easier for me to open up.
VPM: What is the most challenging part of your job?
BW: The most challenging part of my job is coming up with content to write about. Some days I get stumped. So I wait or read other articles until I get inspiration for a new one.
VPM: What do you like most about interning with us?
BW: I like hearing the office banter and all of the big personalities here. This is a fun place to work at and there is never a dull day. Everyone is friends with one another which makes it easy to jump in and make friends.
VPM: What’s your favorite app?
BW: BuzzFeed! I practically live on the app.
VPM: What do you love most about New York City?
BW: I love that there is always a new spot to check out and fun activities to do. The city is always full of adventures.
VPM: If you could add one snack to the office what would it be:
BW: Chips and guacamole!
VPM: Hell yes. We agree.
