Our Director of Sales, Joe Ryder, simply explains the importance of salespeople vying with one another for your position.

“The first statement I make to new employees is, “You should want my job.” More often than not, I get the response, “Why me?” Hiring an ambitious person is the best thing you can do for your company’s growth. In my career, I’ve worked with too many people who are content with their current position in the company and never feel the need to advance themselves. The reason I look to hire smart, ambitious people is simple: if someone is going to be ambitious for themselves, then they will be ambitious for the company. Driving healthy competition amongst your employees is very important. The best way to do that is by creating an environment where ambition is the driving force. Your employees should want to be you someday, the “head honcho,” if you will.

So, the next time there is a promotion opportunity within your company, you better be thinking, “Why not me?”
